I've played around with the idea of trying to sew and embroider a mass vestment for awhile now. This is a good kick in the pants to try and actually get it done.

I just started a lifestyle magazine for women called Lovely Bits Magazine -- a renaissance of the good, the true, the beautiful. If you know any Catholic artists, musicians, or creators, please send them my way so that I can feature them in the weekly newsletter and bi-annual print magazine.

Next month, I will be featuring singer/songwriter and Franciscan Friar, Brother Isaiah.

Check out ACBA in Charleston. I know there are multiple Catholic students there and they learn classical architecture, design, plaster, blacksmithing, timber framing etc. Their work is so impressive. Hope for the future and a great example of young people engaging the physical world vs digital

Some of us are plugging along writing Catholic fantasy.

I note that we also need Catholic reviewers. And Catholics who rate works and spread the news by word of mouth. The more who hear the more who can enjoy it.

(And nothing annoys an artist more than people complaining that no one does what the artist is doing.)

Can your Epiphany hymn be found somewhere online? Ironic, I know...

I appreciate your perspective. I am a playwright who has written for a local church theater company and the impact was tremendous. But it was a labor of love and didn’t receive any monetary support.

I am writing more plays and financial support would be amazing. Right now I’m banking on eternal reward rather than earthly. I’m fortunate to have a husband who supports us. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to spend the time writing.

I have a vivid memory of Greg Willits speaking at the 2011 Catholic New Media Conference decrying how the Church had given up its position as the principal patron of the arts. Sadly, too many Catholic leaders don't seem to think beautiful, lasting art worth the investment.
