My great great grandparents helped build some beautiful churches with their tithings and labors. I would love to do the same, our church building has a capital campaign to raise millions for repairs (and demolition of buildings). Some of the repairs the men of the church would/could do in a day. We have many handy men that have already said they would labor for our church!! Unfortunately the diocese has approved vendors that need to do everything and charge an arm and a leg…it’s this bureaucracy and politicking that frustrates many of the faithful.
I will add our church has more baptisms than funeral (one of the only in the area) and many young children at mass. We are thinking for the future.
I know it is not popular, nor perhaps even safe these days to say so, but the nature and history of our nation are partly if not mostly to blame here. Its all about speed and efficiency (and I will not add what part of our communal lives adds to that -- but you know.).
Catholics are ALWAYS called to countercultural when such societal distortions appear.
Does anyone else think this guy needs to STOP TALKING until he UNDERSTANDS SOMETHING?
Great, me neither.
Excellent article as always, Patrick Neve.
Lmao
Good post, Patrick! While discouragement is tempting, it's never of God.
