Well said. I actually just watched the Charlie Brown Christmas today for the first time with my family and also noticed how real and relatable it felt.

Great article, Patrick. Very relatable while doing a fine job of bringing in the Incarnational story.

The children and I just watched this yesterday. And I was, as always happens, watching it thru their eyes. And the 60s babble and psychology was really a bit much. And then boom. We got the Gospel reading (memorized) in the light, front of stage. And it all turns around. The tree is transformed, literally.

It made my kids happy. Like light in the darkness always does.

Thanks for this.

Try a midnight candle light traditional Latin mass and then the paschal fire brought into the church for the Easter vigil mass.

Standing outside watching them create the paschal light with flint then process into the church where this light is passed from each church member. These two masses are the most divine and awe inspiring gifts I have received in my life.

Lovely article, Patrick, and very relatable. Thank you for the opportunity to take a breath, listen to the sheep’s bleating as it turns into soft stillness in the dark, and stare up at the stars as they fill the sky.

Life is only as fast as we allow it to be.

Merry Christmas!

2 typos in this key sentence: “The light sines in the darkness annd the darkness has not overcome it.”
